Technological Innovation and Industry Development Trends of Aluminum Wire

Driven by the global low-carbon transition and the wave of industrial lightweighting, aluminum wire, as a key basic material with lightweight, electrical conductivity and recyclability, is gradually breaking through traditional application boundaries and achieving large-scale application in power transmission, new energy vehicles, high-end manufacturing and other fields. Its technological innovation and industrial upgrading have become the core main line of industry development. Aluminum wire is made of pure aluminum or aluminum alloy through drawing, annealing and other processes, with natural advantages such as low density, corrosion resistance and abundant resource reserves. Compared with copper wire, its raw material cost is only one-third to one-half of that of copper, and the content of aluminum in the earth's crust is about 8%, which is more than a thousand times the reserves of copper. From the perspective of long-term sustainability, it has significant resource advantages.
In recent years, technological innovation in the aluminum wire industry has mainly focused on two directions: material modification and process upgrading. In terms of material modification, the research and application of high-end aluminum alloy wires such as AA-8000 series alloys have effectively solved the bottleneck of insufficient electrical conductivity and mechanical strength of traditional aluminum wires. Its conductivity can be increased to 58%-61% IACS, and its tensile strength and creep resistance are significantly enhanced, which can meet the harsh requirements of high-end power equipment and new energy vehicles. The promotion of composite wires such as copper-clad aluminum wire has realized the combination of the excellent electrical conductivity of copper and the lightweight advantage of aluminum, which not only overcomes the disadvantages of aluminum's easy oxidation and large contact resistance, but also greatly reduces the material cost, and its application in high-frequency transmission, cable manufacturing and other fields is becoming more and more extensive.
